Causes of prostatitis in men: symptoms and treatment of various forms

Doctor's appointment for prostatitis

Inflammation of the prostate is the most common disease among men over 40, second only in rare cases to heart disease.When a person is diagnosed, a natural question arises: where exactly does this disease come from?

The causes of prostatitis in men are numerous;it is almost impossible to name exactly what influenced the development of pathology in a particular patient.However, some factors, such as poor lifestyle and alcohol abuse, significantly increase the risk of developing the disease.

Another feature of the disease is the effect of these causes.Some of them can instantly cause pathologies, while others affect the body of a man for years and only after 40-45 years are detected by the first stage of prostatitis.

In general, all causes of prostatitis are divided according to the form of the disease.And it can be bacterial or abacterial (regardless of the presence of infection).

Causes of abacterial prostatitis

It is not only the development of infections that leads to the onset of the disease.The onset of the pathology can also be triggered by:

  1. incorrect structure of the prostate gland, leading to compression of the prostate;
  2. deterioration of general blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
  3. decreased testosterone levels;
  4. constant perineal injuries and too intense physical activity, leading to muscle fatigue;
  5. unstable sexual life, as well as interrupted sexual relations;
  6. too much sexual activity, due to which the body does not recover as it should;
  7. consumption of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, which certainly lead to a deterioration of potency;
  8. too little daily activity, which leads to congestion and constipation;
  9. regular hypothermia, exposure to stress and nervous tension.

Clinical tests confirm that prostatitis often appears due to poor nutrition, poor quality of food, high content of food additives and flavor enhancers.

Bacterial prostatitis: causes of pathology

Causes of a bacterial nature include several factors in the development of the disease:

  1. too weak immunity, which may be a consequence of an incorrect lifestyle;
  2. genitourinary diseases of an infectious nature (bacteria move into the prostate from the bladder);
  3. venereal diseases.Most often characteristic of young people who do not use barrier contraception;
  4. intestinal diseases.It is very easy for microorganisms to arrive from the intestine to the prostate, passing "beyond".

With age, the causes become more numerous and the body's defenses weaken, so most often the disease develops after 40-45 years.

The main symptoms of prostatitis in men

There are 3 phases of prostatitis, the first symptoms are evident in the initial phase of the disease and in the second they can no longer be ignored:

  • the urination process is interrupted, it becomes more frequent, the pressure weakens and dripping voiding syndrome is observed;
  • a sharp pain begins to appear in the perineum, scrotum and lower abdomen;
  • sexual dysfunction develops and discomfort occurs during ejaculation.

Acute prostatitis, which requires an immediate response, is characterized by slightly different symptoms:

  • an increase in temperature is possible due to a strong development of inflammatory processes, and fever and chills appear in parallel;
  • pain radiates to the head, muscles, joints and even the lower back;
  • in the perineal area there is a burning sensation, swelling and increased temperature;
  • the perineum is painful or unpleasant to the touch;
  • during urination, a burning sensation appears, pain appears, the urine darkens, blood is even visible in it;
  • the moment you don't want to go to the toilet, urine may leak out of the urethra.

Similar symptoms, but of less severity, are characteristic of chronic prostatitis.It is necessary to be regularly examined by a doctor after the age of 40, since there is also an asymptomatic form of the pathology.

How to treat prostatitis of different forms?

There are numerous methods for treating prostatitis, and not all of them involve serious surgery.The earlier the disease is detected, the gentler the regimens used to treat it.

Drug therapy

To treat prostatitis, antibiotics (bacterial form) and alpha-blockers are used - natural substances to improve immunity and eliminate inflammation.Drugs that restore blood circulation are also used.There are many drugs, so there will always be those that are suitable for the individual characteristics of the body of a particular man.You cannot choose drugs in the pharmacy yourself;you should always rely on your doctor's prescription.

Surgery

Radical treatment methods are used very rarely and are more often aimed at eliminating acute prostatitis or an advanced form of the disease:

  • transurethral resection: a special instrument is inserted into the urinary canal, which removes part of the prostate gland and eliminates pressure on the urethra.It is carried out without intervention in the abdominal cavity;
  • Prostatectomy is a surgical operation through the abdominal cavity aimed at eliminating a very enlarged prostate.

Non-surgical methods

Prostatitis can be treated with other methods.Not all of them are pleasant, but the subsequent rehabilitation period lasts only a few days, maximum 2-3 weeks, and the risk of complications is minimized:

  • thermal methods - elimination by high temperatures;
  • ultrasound treatment;
  • cryodestruction – removal with liquid nitrogen;
  • laser therapy – division of the tumor with a laser;
  • magnetic methods with laser reinforcement - the use of a magnet and a laser to improve blood circulation and quickly restore damaged tissue;
  • Balloon urethral dilation: A catheter with a balloon at the end is inserted into the urethra.

Prostate massage, herbal medicine, reflexology and other methods are also used for treatment.There are also unusual flu methods such as eliminating the disease with live bees and leeches.And they can be very effective!
